Starting as a small trickle in the Cotswolds the River Thames travels over 210 miles through the heart of some of England’s most picturesque towns.
Friday We depart and travel to Oxford and enjoy a two hour cruise to Abingdon, passing through beautiful countryside. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Reading and the Hilton Reading. This evening enjoy a three course evening meal.
Saturday Today we enjoy a two hour scenic cruise from Caversham Bridge to the bustling market town of Henley-on-Thames, passing through picturesque riverside villages. The countryside is rich in wildlife and the highlights include passing the immaculate grounds of Park Place and Holme Park as well as the lavishly opulent riverside properties of Wargrave and Henley. We will enjoy time at leisure, in Henley-on-Thames before returning to our hotel.
Sunday Today we enjoy a scenic 80-minute return cruise which travels upstream from Caversham Bridge to Mapledurham Lock. Following the Thames upstream, you will see wildlife, open countryside, islands and views out towards the Berkshire Downs. This afternoon we head to the vibrant Georgian market town of Marlow. The town is made up of historic streets and an abundance of boutique shops, restaurants, cafes and bistros all adding to the town’s unique charm.
Monday We depart after breakfast and travel to Windsor with an included 40-minute return cruise. The cruise will travel upstream to Boveney Lock with views of Windsor Castle and Eton College. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
The Hilton Reading is a modern and contemporary hotel ideally located for visiting Windsor. All bedrooms are en-suite with television, telephone, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Additional facilities include a bar and restaurant. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, gym, steam room and sauna. Lift to all floors.
