Smooth, rolling hills dotted with deep green rows of cypresses, secluded farmsteads, picturesque little villages, unique artistic treasures, an excellent cuisine and world famous wine, all these phrases evoke images of Tuscany. A feast for the senses, our new tour for 2018, based in charming spa town of Montecatini Terme, will give you the opportunity to learn how to cook like an Italian, enjoy great wine and visit a pasta factory, owned and run by the Martelli family since 1926.

Monday Enjoy a day visiting a traditional farmhouse and learn how to prepare a traditional pasta sauce, local ‘crostini’, an Italian appetizer consisting of small slices of grilled or toasted bread and toppings. Later this afternoon you will have free time to enjoy your self-prepared lunch. We will include a visit to the farmhouse, rounded off with wine and locally produced olive oil tasting. Our final visit of the day will be to Lucca, a traditional Tuscan city, whose medieval city walls are still well preserved. Known as the city of 100 churches, Lucca is the birthplace of Puccini. We will include a guided tour of Lucca.
Tuesday Today we included a guided tour of Siena and the Chianti Valley. This morning we discover the medieval city of Siena, famous for the Piazza del Campo, the seashell-shaped square, on which the famous horserace, the ‘Palio’ takes place each year. Siena and the ‘Palio’, were both featured in the James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. Later this afternoon we continue to the Chianti Valley. Located in an area that encompasses Florence and Siena, Chianti is as varied in its scenery, as it is in its wines. Wine tasting with snack rounds off the day.
Wednesday We leave the coach behind today, as we board the local train from Montecatini Terme to Florence, accompanied by our local guide. Florence’s museums, palaces, and churches house some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world. The most popular and important sites in Florence include the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Accademia. Wander some of the oldest streets in the city until you reach the Arno River, cross the Ponte Vecchio, and experience the ‘newest’ area of Florence, the Oltrarno.
Thursday Today we visit Vinci and Lari, traditional Italian villages. We start the day with a visit to the medieval village of Vinci, named after its most famous son Leonardo da Vinci. Born on April 15, 1452, Leonardo grew up in this cute, compact village, located between Florence and Pisa. Later this afternoon we will visit the picturesque village of Lari, located in the hills of Pisa. We will visit Europe’s smallest and most authentic pasta factory, owned and run by the Martelli family since 1926
