Hebridean Adventure

Journey 30 miles off the west coast of Scotland and explore the Outer Hebrides, an idyllic island chain stretching 130 miles with plenty of things to see and do. While you island hop around this stunningly beautiful part of the world, you can uncover the fascinating history of the region at one of many historical sites, check out the thrilling local bird and marine wildlife and witness the thriving arts and culture in the towns and villages.

Itinerary

Monday We depart this morning and travel to Perth for one night, dinner, bed and breakfast at the Salutation Hotel.

Tuesday After breakfast we continue north, travelling through the Cairngorms National Park, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. We will continue to Inverness for a lunch break. Our final journey of the day will take us along the shores of Loch Broom to Ullapool and the Royal Hotel for one night, dinner, bed & breakfast.

Wednesday After breakfast we board the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Stornoway, the largest settlement and administrative centre of the Outer Hebrides. Stornoway, is home to a busy port where you can stroll along the quay and watch the local fisherman land the catch of the day. We will enjoy some free time to explore Stornoway, before making our way to the Cabafeidh
Hotel for two nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.

Thursday Today we enjoy a guided tour of Lewis. Lewis is the largest and most northern island in the Outer Hebrides, home to one of the best prehistoric sites in Scotland, and some fabulous beaches. Discover the rich history of the proud Lewis people, and the strong Gaelic traditions. No trip to Lewis would be complete without visiting the famous standing stones at Callanish, a fascinating group of nearly 50 megaliths dating from around 3000 BC. Some attractions visited may incur an additional charge, payable on the day.

Friday After breakfast we travel south from the wild moorlands of Lewis to the more mountainous Harris. Famous for the locally produced cloth, Harris Tweed, it is also home to the highest mountains in the Outer Hebrides. After a morning exploring South Harris, we will enjoy a break in the small port of Tarbet. Our final journey of the day will take us to Leverburgh, for the short ferry crossing to Berneray. On arrival in Berneray, we will continue through North Uist to Benbecula with stunning scenery for two night’s dinner, bed & breakfast at the Dark Island Hotel.

Saturday Following breakfast we will enjoy a guided tour of North and South Uist. North Uist is characterised by its landscape of peat bogs and lochans (small inland lochs), and its string of bountiful beaches. South Uist is a stunningly beautiful island of crystal clear waters with white powder beaches to the west and heather uplands dominated by Beinn Mhor to the east. Some attractions visited may incur an additional charge, payable on the day.

Sunday Today we head back across North Uist and board the ferry at Lochmaddy for the crossing, to Uig on the Isle of Skye. The Isle of Skye is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides. Situated off the west coast of mainland Scotland, Skye’s landscape is distinctly Highland with its lochs, heather-clad moors and towering peaks. It is renowned for its natural beauty and offers plenty of wildlife, history, geology and beautiful scenery. We will continue across the impressive Skye Bridge, before reaching Fort William and the Ben Nevis Hotel for one night, dinner, bed & breakfast.

Monday We depart the hotel after breakfast and begin our return journey home.
