Killarney & the Ring of Kerry

The Kingdom of Kerry is renowned for its natural beauty and an area of colourful contrasts, combining a rugged coastline with wonderful landscapes, dramatic mountain scenery and miles of golden beaches. The picturesque town of Killarney has been welcoming visitors for years and has retained its traditions throughout. For many people around the world, the Ring of Kerry drive encapsulates their image of Ireland, as each twist and turn will reveal new sights.

Tuesday We depart for the port of Holyhead and our crossing to Dublin. On arrival we continue to the outskirts of Dublin for one night, dinner, bed and breakfast (3-star hotel).

Wednesday Following breakfast, we depart our hotel and make our way to Killarney, making a break in the city of Limerick. Set on the mighty River Shannon, Limerick has a rich history and strong heritage, which still remains today. We will also include a short visit to Adare, known as Ireland’s prettiest village. Our journey will continue into County Kerry to the town of Killarney for four night’s dinner, bed and breakfast at the Killarney Towers Hotel.

Thursday Today we enjoy a scenic tour of the famous Ring of Kerry. As part of the Wild Atlantic Way, the Ring of Kerry (or Iveragh Peninsula to give it its correct name) is a mystical and unspoilt region of Ireland that has attracted visitors for hundreds of years. With undulating hills, soaring mountains, rugged coastline and picturesque, traditional villages, each twist and turn of the scenic tour will reveal amazing sights and spectacular views.

Friday Enjoy a day at leisure with an included Jaunting Car Tour and Cruise, the perfect way to see the hidden delights of the Killarney National Park and the famous Lakes of Killarney. The Tangney family, whose jaunting business has been in operation for over 220 years, will welcome you on board their pony and trap rides and take you on an exciting tour of the area. The Killarney National Park was established in 1932 to protect one of Ireland’s most precious natural habitats. Beneath the wild, rugged summits of the country’s highest mountains, it encloses a beautiful sylvan landscape of ancient woodland, spectacular waterfalls and quiet lakes.

Saturday Today we enjoy a scenic tour of the Dingle Peninsula. The Dingle Peninsula or Corca Dhuibhne stretches 30 miles into the Atlantic Ocean from Ireland’s southwest coast. The peninsula is dominated by the range of mountains that form its spine. We visit the picturesque fishing town of Dingle, before heading west to Slea Head, Europe’s most westerly point, whose outlying historic Blasket Islands are known as ‘the next parish to America’.

Sunday We depart Killarney and begin our return journey home travelling through Tipperary and visit Cashel, home to the iconic Rock of Cashel. One of the most spectacular tourist attractions in Ireland and one of the most visited. Cashel’s rich history is reflected in its heritage, from prehistoric raths to mediaeval monasteries and fortified town houses, a Georgian Cathedral and a 21st century Library. We will continue to our hotel on the outskirts of Dublin for one night dinner, bed and breakfast (3-star hotel).

Monday An early departure as we travel to Dublin Port. A full breakfast is included on-board the ferry. We continue our journey home.
